BLAKE SHUTTERLY

Blake’s love of fitness and movement began as a child while learning and participating in gymnastics for 16 years. She loved how challenging and rewarding it was, and continued to share her love of the sport by coaching it an additional 11 years. As her passion of fitness continues to grow, she is now a Level 2 CrossFit Trainer, with an intense focus on technique and proper movement. Blake’s mission is to not only have people feel strong, confident, powerful and proud after working out with her, but to understand why each movement must be done in certain ways. Her positive energy, focus, and personal attention to detail are all driving forces in making that happen!

ARIEL FERNANDEZ

Born and raised in NY, Ariel's love of the Mets turned into a love of sports, eventually going on to play collegiate baseball. After graduating from Baruch college, Ariel had a hard time finding something an inspiring and athletic as sports teams, until he discovered CrossFit. He went on to earn several certifications and competed in the 2014 CrossFit Games with Team CrossFit Virtuosity, as well as two trips to regionals. Ariel continues to develop his craft to become a better athlete and coach and strives to provide a life changing experience to everyone he has the pleasure of training.

ERIC SALVADOR

Eric is a CF- level 1 Trainer and has been coaching since 2008. Growing up Eric was always a scrawny, fast kid which made him great for basketball and longer endurance sports in high school. He later enlisted where he served his country as a United States Marine. It was here where he found his passion for physical activity and fitness. He started out as a personal trainer at NYSC on the upper east side where he began introducing high intensity Crossfit style workouts to his clients. Instantly they were hooked. Back in his days as a personal trainer Eric completed 4 triathlons and the NYC marathon in 2008. He now enjoys throwing heavy weights around and all things gymnastics. As a Crossfit masters athlete, Eric has successfully qualified for the Masters online qualifier (40-44) for the last four years. His highest ranking was 60th in the world in 2018. Eric has two beautiful children, Isaiah & Samantha who are both in college.

Eric holds certifications in NASM, NSCA, USA weightlifting L1, kettlebell concepts L1, catalyst athletics weightlifting seminar, Crossfit weightlifting L1, Crossfit kettlebells, Crossfit gymnastics, Crossfit endurance, Aerobic capacity seminar, concept 2 rowing certification, CFSC(Certified functional strength coach) Level 1 and TRX suspension trainer certification.

JARED PRUDOFF-SMITH

Jared Prudoff-Smith was born and raised in Washington DC and has been involved in athletics and coaching/teaching his entire life.  He grew up playing various sports, including collegiate basketball, and has always appreciated the impact physical fitness has on performance.  After college he taught middle school earth & space science and coached high school basketball in Miami for two years. He started CrossFit in 2010 and immediately fell in love because of it its ethos and methodology. He began coaching in 2011, and has been a coach at CrossFit 5th Ave since 2012.

In addition to his pursuits in fitness, Jared also is an actor, fashion, and fitness model. You may have seen him in Men’s Health, Men’s Journal, Men’s Fitness and Runner’s World. He has been a featured contributor with Ask Men.  

It is safe to say he has an unusually ridiculous but endearing disposition and sense of humor, and he loves to infuse that into his classes. He believes that no matter what the circumstances are, a well-timed movie quote can only improve the situation. This will become quickly evident in any class of his that you take, although “well-timed” might be a bit generous.

HENRY AYRES-BROWN

Henry grew up swimming, dancing and doing gymnastics—when he found CrossFit in 2014 it was love at first sight. He is a Level 2 certified coach and loves making CrossFit accessible to everyone. Henry also enjoys DnD, fruit, and caffeine!

LAUREN HEUSER

Lauren believes that physical training strengthens our connection with ourselves, allowing us to take on any challenge we encounter. With a background in both team and individual sports, she discovered CrossFit in 2011 and fell in love with the training model. Lauren is a Level-2 coach with a focus in Olympic weightlifting and wants gym time to be the best time of the day!

CHRIS PROVOST

Chris grew up a nationally ranked BMX cyclist and discovered Olympic Weightlifting & Crossfit when he moved to New York City. He made a career switch once he realized he wanted to pursue his passion of coaching others on the floor and on the platform. Chris is a Level 1 Crossfit Coach &  USAW SPS Coach.

CARLOS DAVILA

Carlos Davila is a native of Puerto Rico but grew up in the Bronx. His fitness career started while playing on a semi-pro football team where he played defensive back for 3 years. While attending graduate school, he began personal training, group exercise, and coached at an interdisciplinary training facility that allowed him to combine his interest in health and wellness with his academic pursuits in psychology. Close to 10 years ago, Carlos heard about this intense new format for workouts and has not looked back from Crossfit since. An avid Competitor as well as Coach, Carlos mixes his years of knowledge and experience with his understanding of the various psychological impediments that athletes face once they step into the “box”.
He’s a father of two sons and a music buff with varied tastes and spends way too much time creating playlists for his commute and fitness classes.

MATHEW FORZAGLIA

Mat has been in fitness all his life. As a true athlete, his father put him in ice skates when he could barely walk. He played football, lacrosse and hockey all through college and beyond. Motivated by the fitness world, he got his personal training certification early after graduation and began his fitness career. He works with clients of all fitness levels, including those with injuries and disabilities, who want to improve their lives by getting stronger and healthier. Mathew is truly fueled and energized by helping people. His classes are dynamic and tough but also very fun. Mathew is always striving to make a big change in people's lives.

KAI BRADEN

Kai Braden is all about fresh Cali vibes with that New York swag. Growing up with Taekwondo and tennis, Kai’s fitness career has evolved simultaneously with his acting and modeling career. His favorite CrossFit workout is “Amanda,” and if you take his class, get ready for a mix between body-rollin’ hip hop and dirty deep house.

Serving his athletes as a coach at CrossFit Fifth Ave is extremely fulfilling. He gets to help people become stronger, faster, and healthier. Whether the goal is general health & fitness or competitive & professional level training, Kai adapts to the needs of his athletes to best guide them— Ike Taylor (during NFL off season), DJ Vice (for Nike trail runs), and Zac Efron (for Baywatch) to name a few.
